When is a cardboard pallet best?
Not every pallet needs to be built for export, long-haul transport, or heavy-duty loads. In the right applications, cardboard pallets offer a more streamlined and practical alternative to traditional pallet types.
With load capacities of up to 200kg (evenly distributed) and the ability to be protected through wrapping, cardboard pallets are not limited to ultra-light or highly restricted use.
The key is understanding where the deliver the same outcome more efficiently, without unnecessary weight, materials, or complexity.
Where cardboard pallets make sense
1. General internal and operational movement
Cardboard pallets are well-suited to everyday handling across warehouse and operational environments.
Typical uses include:
- Moving goods between departments or zones
- Order staging and dispatch preparation
- Short-to-medium distance internal transfers
With consistent loads and controlled handling, they can perform the same function as traditional pallets, without the added weight.
2. Loads up to 200kg (evenly distributed)
For many operations, pallet loads fall well within this range.
Cardboard pallets are suitable where:
- Total load weight does not exceed ~ 200kg
- Weight is evenly spread across the pallet
- Load stability is designed into the pack
In these cases, switching to a lighter pallet can improve handling efficiency without compromising usability. In some operations,
