About HealthNet

Founded in 2015 and based in Derbyshire, HealthNet is a clinical homecare company that partners with the NHS to deliver hospital-quality care directly to patients’ homes. By providing medication and treatment outside of the hospital setting, HealthNet helps patients manage their care in a way that fits around their lives. Since its establishment, the company has supported more than 240,000 patients across the UK, making healthcare more accessible, convenient, and patient-focused.

HealthNet was facing a growing challenge as demand for its services continued to increase. Their existing packaging operation was becoming less efficient, creating pressure on processes as patient volumes grew. At the same time, HealthNet wanted to improve the sustainability of its packaging. The team needed a more efficient, scalable packaging solution that could support increasing demand while helping them achieve their environmental goals.

KB Packaging has supported HealthNet for over 10 years, building a strong partnership and enabling packaging solutions to evolve alongside the company’s growth. As demand for HealthNet’s services increased, one of the key challenges was improving packing efficiency to keep pace with rising patient volumes.

Working closely with the HealthNet team, KB Packaging identified opportunities to streamline their packing process while supporting their sustainability objectives. The first improvement came through the introduction of self-seal crash lock boxes, which require no tape and can be assembled in seconds. Previously, HealthNet’s team spent around four hours each day constructing and sealing boxes. By switching to the new solution, packing times were significantly reduced, freeing up valuable resource and enabling the team to better support growing demand. The elimination of tape from this process also reduced the amount of plastic used within the packing operation, helping HealthNet progress towards its sustainability goals without compromising pack quality or performance.

As part of a wider review of the packing process, KB Packaging also identified areas where tape was still required and introduced longer-length E-Tape rolls to improve operational efficiency. With more metres per roll, the new tape reduced the frequency of roll changes, helping minimise downtime and keep packing processes running smoothly. The reduction in roll consumption also resulted in fewer cardboard cores being used and discarded, further supporting waste reduction initiatives across the site.

To maximise the benefits of the new tape solution, the E-Tape rolls were paired with our ergonomic tape dispensers designed for frequent daily use. Featuring a comfortable grip and smooth tape application, the dispensers helped reduce strain associated with repetitive packing tasks while improving ease of use for operators. Together, these changes created a more efficient, streamlined packing environment that enhanced productivity, improved user comfort, and supported HealthNet’s commitment to continuous operational and environmental improvement.

While the demands on HealthNet’s operation will continue to evolve, the close working relationship between our teams ensures that new challenges can be met with effective solutions. By taking the time to understand their changing requirements, KB Packaging can continue to recommend and implement packaging improvements that support growth, drive efficiencies, and help achieve long-term sustainability objectives.
