Steel Strapping & Steel Banding

Steel Strapping (also known as Steel Banding) is the strongest and most durable strapping solution for securing extremely heavy or sharp-edged loads. It provides high tensile strength, low elongation, and maximum load stability during storage and transportation.

Steel strapping is commonly used for:

  • Export packing and container shipments

  • Heavy-duty pallet strapping

  • Securing bricks, timber, and metal products

  • Bundling sharp or abrasive goods

Browse our range of steel strapping coils, seals, and tensioning tools — designed for high-performance industrial applications.

Types of Steel Strapping Coils

Steel strapping is available in two main coil formats:

Ribbon Wound Steel Strapping

  • Each layer is wound directly over the other

  • The coil width matches the strap width

  • Ideal for lower-volume applications and storage efficiency

Oscillated (Mill Wound) Steel Strapping

  • Multiple windings per layer across a 63.5mm core width

  • Longer coil length for higher-volume operations

  • Reduces coil changeover time and increases productivity

Both options require a compatible steel strapping dispenser.

How to Apply Steel Strapping

Steel strapping can be applied manually or with a pneumatic tool:

  1. Feed strap around the load

  2. Tension using a strapping tensioner

  3. Seal with strapping seals/clips using a crimping tool
—or choose a seal-free strapping tool with integrated lock-punching technology

Our range includes:

  • Steel strapping kits

  • Manual and automated strapping tools

  • Seals, buckles, and dispensers

Safe Cutting & Removal

⚠️ Steel strapping is under tension and must be handled safely.

Always:

  • Wear gloves and eye protection

  • Use a steel strapping cutter suitable for high-tension steel

  • Cut away from your body

Some cutters feature padded jaws to prevent the strap from snapping back dangerously.
